Marin 9 to 25 Advisory Team Spotlight: Lisa Miller

Meet Lisa Miller (she/her), a member of Marin 9 to 25’s Advisory Team, who is dedicated to supporting the wellness of youth in Marin County. With a background as a school psychologist, Lisa was drawn to this field because of her experience working with youth with disabilities. She wanted to help those who experience education in different ways. After obtaining her Master’s in Education at UC Berkeley and EdD at UCLA, Lisa became the Assistant Superintendent of the Marin County Office of Education (MCOE), where she leads wellness programs.

When asked what drew her to join Marin 9 to 25’s Advisory Team, Lisa credits Marin County’s efforts to support youth. She was asked to join when a former Advisory Team member, Michelle Drake, received a promotion and shifted areas of responsibilities. As an advisor, Lisa uplifts and builds the capacity of youth in Marin by bringing her experience working in schools and with youth and parents. She responds to the growing mental health needs of youth by bringing the lens of “what is it like to be a youth in school” and “what is it like to be a staff at a school” and inserting intervention or prevention techniques to address needs. She advocates for resources and aspires to empower the youth through their voice.

Lisa admires Marin 9 to 25’s ongoing efforts to provide the youth a voice, empowering them in ways that help the adults work hard to coordinate resources. She loves that the organization is a progressive space for youth and adults to collaborate and problem-solve efforts to support the mental health of our youth in Marin. One thing that Lisa wishes people knew about Marin 9 to 25 is that it is a safe and inclusive space where all voices are valued. She hopes that more youth can get involved in this effort.

Lisa Miller is a valued Marin 9 to 25 Advisory Team member. Her passion for supporting the mental wellness of youth and her current role as an Assistant Superintendent at MCOE brings valuable insights and skills to the team. Lisa’s dedication to supporting youth and creating progressive spaces for them to thrive is admirable and inspiring.
