Share your story!
The May Mental Health Art and Film Showcase is an annual event highlighting awareness and conversations around mental health and well-being within Marin by sharing youth art and perspective. This event is in collaboration with the Marin County Youth Commission's Wellness Festival and acts as a hub for art from partner organizations like the high schools, middle schools, community partners, and so many more!
The goal of this event is to increase awareness and conversations around mental health and well-being within Marin through sharing youth art and perspective. To be featured on the website and at the May 2025 showcase, please read the guidelines below and submit your art using this form.
Art in any form is accepted, including photography, painting, digital art, poetry, sculpture, dance, music, video, and more. There will also be opportunities to perform your art live (song, dance, poetry reading, etc.) during the in-person event if you are interested!
See more video guidelines here, including resources to feature.
As a participating artist, we hope you will come to the showcase and see the many works of art that have been submitted. The showcase date is on Sunday, May 18th from 9am-2pm at Terra Linda High School. It will be an open house format, so you are welcome to come anytime (though we encourage you to come for the entirety of the Wellness Festival). There will be free food, wellness workshops, resource fair, and an exciting live performance by Margo! and Friends! Be sure to bring your friends and family!
Submission Guidelines
Please respond to one or more of the following prompts:
BALANCE: Create art or a film that explores the balance between your passions, responsibilities, and self-care, reflecting on how you navigate everyday tasks, school, work, and family. How do you find wisdom in knowing when to ask for help and when to take time for yourself to maintain your mental well-being?
JUSTICE: Create art that shares your personal experience with discrimination or empowers others to advocate for justice and equity. What barriers have you overcome and how has this experience impacted your mental health?
COMMUNITY: Create art about your community of family, friends, and culture that help you stay grounded. What connections do you have that make up your community?
HOPE: Create art that shares your story and encourages others to find their own way to get through tough times. What do you see or experience in your life or community right now that gives you hope?
Thank you for your participation in the showcase! You will be promoting the importance of mental health among youth in Marin and helping to start important discussions in our community. We look forward to honoring these important artists and their art for their insightful expression.
For any questions regarding submitting art or the showcase, please reach out at info@marin9to25.org. Note that art will be submitted anonymously, so no names will be shown with art when showcased unless permission is received.
